Taking Action as a Teacher:
Over the past week I have been scouring all of the current educational research to find practitioner articles that are related to my inquiry. To learn more about my wondering I consulted literature by searching my favorite education resource websites including Edutopia and Responsive Classroom. I searched for positive phrasing, positivity in the classroom, positive management techniques, and positive classroom. I wanted to be as informed about the current research involving my wondering as possible.
Reflecting on Learning:
The literature that helped to shape my inquiry the most came from Adams and Baronberg's book Promoting Positive Behavior. This helped me to establish what my teacher talk/teacher presence/student interactions would look like. One of the most valuable pieces of information I found in this piece of literature was to use responsive language and to state rules in positive terms. I believe this learning was important for my inquiry because it helped me to determine in what manner I wanted to participate in our classroom community. Based on the data I have collected, I still wonder how I can track aspects of responsive language to see how I am measuring up to my expectations.
