These FEAPS still address my current goals. While I have made progress in these areas, I do not feel as though I have adequately met these goals.
Main goal moving forward:
When teaching, work on pacing throughout the lesson and incorporate behavior management techniques into activities with students.
In order to address this goal, I worked on intentionally planning out my pacing in my lessons and made use of a timer for my lesson plans. I am still struggling with these goals, but I feel like I am making some progress in these areas.
Decisions made related to my goal:
Using feedback from all of my previous lessons, I have come to the conclusion that the main two issues that I struggle with is pacing during the lesson and using the classroom management techniques that my CT already has in place. Those two issues are what I get marked on every observation I have. I am currently working on determining how long the students should spend on something before we need to move on and note what students may just need to try their best and be retaught at a later time. I am using feedback from my CT and US to develop a plan of action about how to incorporate the in place classroom management techniques.
In order make progress on my goals, I have been working closely with my CT to implement Whole Brain Teaching's "Oh Yeah/Mighty Groan" classroom accountability into practice. Additionally, I have been intentional when planning and implementing pacing into my lesson plans, even utilizing a timer to keep myself and the students on track.
Plans made for future work in this goal:
Going forward, I will be working to better plan out pacing in my formally planned lessons. Additionally, moving forward as I begin to take over the class for the whole day (starting first with half a day and then continuing to a full day) I will start to use a timer to ensure that we are moving from lesson to lesson with enough time to make transitions and address issues with the lesson.
As I move into my level 3 and final internship, I am planning on taking what I have learned from my CT and US this year and implementing the strategies they have taught me as well as continuing to do independent research to help me to meet my goals in pacing and classroom management.
