The first thing that any educator should do to plan and deliver instruction that is responsive to student learning needs is to collect data and determine the student's current performance level in whatever subject you are planning for. Different methods of data I have seen used/have used/ have been trained to use are:
- Running Records
- FAIR
- iStation reports
- FASTT math reports
- Content specific test scores
- Information from prior teachers
Tier 1:
- Stating the objective
- Hands on methods
- Advanced organizers
- Quality daily instruction
- Simplified Instruction
- Waiting for student mastery to move on
- Targeted instruction for 30 minutes 2-3 times per week.
- Targeted instruction for 30 minutes 3-5 times per week
- Simplified instruction
- One-on-one instruction
After students worked with an intervention for a period of time, the teacher should collect data and make further adjustments.
