To learn her student's names and get to know a little about each of them my CT:
- Meets as many students on meet the teacher night as she can,
- Reviews her class roster several times.
- Has nametags on the student desks.
- Keeps the students' seats the same until she knows all of their names.
- Introduces herself to the class on the first day and the students introduce themselves to her and the other students.
- First day of school/ ice breaker sharing activities.
- Used student nametags as reference.
- Frequently called the students by name.
- Met with them one-on-one while I was administering a running record.
- Introduced myself to the class.
- Talked with the students during down time about shared interests (hockey, USF, football, dance, ect.)
Now What: As I am writing this blog, I have learned each of the students' names and a little bit of information about each of them. Next year, when I am in my own classroom, I am going to implement some of the strategies that my CT has taught me and plan to quicken my process of learning student names.
